Bovey Tracey III v Lewdown Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 12 Jun 2010 at 14.00
Lewdown Cricket Club Won by 10 wkts
Match report
Lewdown 2nds were looking to make it 5 wins in a row as they visited the lovely Stover School to play Bovey Tracey. Having lost the toss, the Lewdown bowlers quickly made inroads into the Bovey batting, with young Sam Spry picking up 3 wickets in his opening spell. Wickets continued to fall, and pick of the bowlers Mark Gibbs ended up with a fine 4 wicket haul. Bovey were bowled out for just 133 with 10 overs remaining. Perhaps the World Cup match was on his mind, but 16 year old Lewdown opener Will Hodgetts was in a rush. He passed his 50 in just 14 balls, and his hundred in just 28 balls. All of his shots were of the highest quality, with boundaries all around the ground; many flying into neighbouring fields. He reached his second ton of the season with an audacious switch hit. Olly Brown ably supported with 20 n.o. Lewdown 20 points beat Bovey Tracey 2 points by 10 wickets with 46 overs remaining and suffice it to say the team got back to Lewdown in time to watch the World Cup. Next match the eagerly anticipated derby with Bridestowe, with Lewdown top and Bridestowe second it promises to be a good match.
